How Much Homeowners Insurance Do You Need?

The right amount of homeowner's coverage is not based on what you paid for the home or what it would sell for today. It is based on what it would actually cost to rebuild it.

Start with rebuild cost

Rebuild cost accounts for materials, labor, debris removal, permits, and current building code requirements. Construction costs in Florida have climbed in recent years, so a policy written several years ago may be under-insured today.

Don't forget contents and liability

Personal property limits are often set as a percentage of the dwelling amount, but high-value items like jewelry, firearms, and collectibles may need to be scheduled separately. Liability limits should reflect the assets you want to protect.

Review every year or two

Renovations, new purchases, and inflation all shift the right coverage level. A quick annual review keeps your policy aligned with your real exposure.
